An A1C level of 7.2% is above the normal range and indicates diabetes. Here’s what the A1C ranges mean:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

For most people with diabetes, the target A1C goal is below 7%. However, your doctor may set a different target based on your age, health conditions, and other factors. If your A1C is 7.2%, it’s important to work with your healthcare provider to manage your blood sugar levels through lifestyle changes, medication, and regular monitoring.
