For most people with diabetes, the target A1C level is 7% or less. However, individual targets may vary based on factors such as age, overall health, and risk of complications. Here’s a general guideline:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

Your doctor will determine the best A1C goal for you. Maintaining your A1C within the target range can help reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.
