The A1C test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months and is not significantly affected by short-term changes in diet, such as eating before the test. Unlike fasting blood glucose tests, the A1C test does not require fasting.

However, long-term dietary habits can influence your A1C results. Consistently high blood sugar levels due to poor diet can lead to higher A1C levels over time.

For accurate results, follow your healthcare provider's instructions and inform them of any conditions or medications that might affect the test.
