The A1C test results are typically reported as a percentage on your lab report. Here’s what the results mean:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

Additionally, some lab reports may include an estimated Average Glucose (eAG) value, which translates the A1C percentage into an average blood sugar level in mg/dL. For example:

A1C % eAG (mg/dL)

6 126
7 154
8 183
9 212
10 240

This helps you understand how your A1C percentage correlates with your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months.
