A blood sugar level of 145 mg/dL can be considered high depending on the context:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar: If this reading is taken after fasting (not eating for at least 8 hours), it is higher than the normal range (70–99 mg/dL) and may indicate prediabetes or diabetes.
  • Post-Meal Blood Sugar: If this reading is taken 1–2 hours after eating, it is slightly elevated but may still be within a normal range for some individuals. However, consistently high post-meal readings could indicate poor blood sugar control.

Blood Sugar Ranges:

Condition Fasting Blood Sugar Post-Meal Blood Sugar (1–2 hours)

Normal 70–99 mg/dL Less than 140 mg/dL
Prediabetes 100–125 mg/dL 140–199 mg/dL
Diabetes 126 mg/dL or higher 200 mg/dL or higher

If you frequently experience blood sugar levels of 145 mg/dL or higher, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and management.
