The A1C test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. It is reported as a percentage, and you cannot calculate it at home. However, you can estimate your A1C level using your average blood glucose levels with the following formula:

A1C (%) = (Average Blood Glucose (mg/dL) + 46.7) / 28.7

For example, if your average blood glucose is 154 mg/dL, your estimated A1C would be:

(154 + 46.7) / 28.7 = 7.0%

Here’s a quick reference table:

A1C (%) Estimated Average Glucose (mg/dL)

6 126
7 154
8 183
9 212
10 240

For an accurate A1C measurement, you need to have a blood test performed by a healthcare professional.
