The time it takes for blood sugar to go down depends on several factors, including the cause of the high blood sugar, your activity level, and whether you take medication. Here’s a general guideline:

  • After Eating: Blood sugar typically peaks 1-2 hours after a meal and starts to decline within 2-3 hours, depending on the type and amount of food consumed.
  • With Exercise: Moderate physical activity can lower blood sugar within 30 minutes to an hour.
  • With Medication: Insulin or oral diabetes medications can lower blood sugar within 15 minutes to a few hours, depending on the type of medication.

If your blood sugar remains high for an extended period, consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
