A blood sugar level of 137 mg/dL can be considered high depending on the context:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar: If this reading is taken after fasting (not eating for at least 8 hours), it is slightly above the normal range (70–99 mg/dL) and may indicate prediabetes (100–125 mg/dL) or diabetes (126 mg/dL or higher).
  • Post-Meal Blood Sugar: If this reading is taken 1–2 hours after eating, it is within the normal range (less than 140 mg/dL for non-diabetics).

If you consistently see readings above 126 mg/dL while fasting or above 200 mg/dL at random times, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
