A blood sugar level of 159 mg/dL can be considered high depending on when it was measured:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar: A fasting blood sugar level of 159 mg/dL is higher than the normal range (70–99 mg/dL) and indicates prediabetes or diabetes.
  • Post-Meal (2 hours after eating): A level of 159 mg/dL is slightly elevated but may not be alarming if it returns to normal within a few hours.

Normal Blood Sugar Ranges:

  • Fasting: 70–99 mg/dL
  • 2 hours after eating: Less than 140 mg/dL

If you consistently see levels around 159 mg/dL, consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
