Type 2 diabetes can be dangerous if not properly managed. Over time, high blood sugar levels can lead to serious complications, including:

  • Cardiovascular Disease: Increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and hypertension.
  • Kidney Damage: Leading to chronic kidney disease or kidney failure.
  • Nerve Damage: Known as neuropathy, which can cause pain, tingling, or loss of sensation.
  • Eye Problems: Including diabetic retinopathy, which can lead to blindness.
  • Foot Problems: Poor circulation and nerve damage can lead to infections and, in severe cases, amputation.

However, with proper management—such as maintaining a healthy diet, regular exercise, monitoring blood sugar levels, and taking prescribed medications—many people with type 2 diabetes can live healthy lives and reduce the risk of complications.
