The A1C test is used to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes. The results are interpreted as follows:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

If your A1C level is 6.5% or higher, it indicates diabetes. This test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months, providing a comprehensive picture of your glucose control. If you are diagnosed with diabetes, your doctor will work with you to develop a management plan, which may include lifestyle changes, medications, and regular monitoring.
