The A1C test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. The results are reported as a percentage, and the ranges are as follows:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

These ranges help diagnose prediabetes and diabetes and monitor how well your blood sugar is being managed. For most people with diabetes, the goal is to keep the A1C level below 7%, but your doctor may set a different target based on your individual health needs.
