The HbA1c (Hemoglobin A1c) test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. Here are the standard ranges:

HbA1c Level Interpretation

Below 5.7% Normal
5.7% - 6.4% Prediabetes
6.5% or above Diabetes

  • Normal: Below 5.7% indicates healthy blood sugar control.
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4% suggests an increased risk of developing diabetes.
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or higher typically indicates diabetes.

For most people with diabetes, the target HbA1c level is below 7%, but your doctor may set a different goal based on your health condition.
