A normal fasting glucose level typically falls within the following range:

  • Normal: 70 to 99 mg/dL (3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L)

Fasting glucose levels are measured after not eating or drinking (except water) for at least 8 hours. Levels outside this range may indicate prediabetes or diabetes:

  • Prediabetes: 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L)
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests

If your fasting glucose level is outside the normal range, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and guidance.
