Normal fasting blood sugar levels are typically within the following ranges:

  • Normal: 70 to 99 mg/dL (3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L)
  • Prediabetes: 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L)
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests

Fasting blood sugar is measured after not eating or drinking anything except water for at least 8 hours. If your levels are consistently outside the normal range, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
