Fasting blood sugar levels are an important indicator of your metabolic health. Here are the general guidelines:

  • Normal: 70–99 mg/dL (3.9–5.5 mmol/L)
  • Prediabetes: 100–125 mg/dL (5.6–6.9 mmol/L)
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests

These values are based on a fasting blood glucose test, which requires you to fast for at least 8 hours before the test. If your levels are outside the normal range, consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
