For non-diabetic individuals, fasting blood sugar levels should typically fall within the following range:

  • Normal Range: 70 to 99 mg/dL (3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L)

Fasting blood sugar is measured after not eating or drinking anything except water for at least 8 hours. If your fasting blood sugar is consistently above 99 mg/dL but below 126 mg/dL, it may indicate prediabetes, and levels of 126 mg/dL or higher on two separate tests may indicate diabetes.
