After fasting (typically 8 hours without food), normal blood sugar levels should fall within the following ranges:

  • Normal: 70 to 99 mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter)
  • Prediabetes: 100 to 125 mg/dL
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL or higher on two separate tests

If your fasting blood sugar level is consistently above 126 mg/dL, it may indicate diabetes, and you should consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
