The average glucose level for a woman, as measured by the A1C test, is generally the same as for men. The A1C test reflects average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. Here are the typical ranges:

  • Normal: Below 5.7% (corresponding to an average glucose level of less than 117 mg/dL)
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4% (117–137 mg/dL)
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above (140 mg/dL or higher)
