A blood sugar level is considered diabetic when the following criteria are met:

  • A1C Test: An A1C level of 6.5% or higher indicates diabetes.
  • Fasting Blood Sugar Test: A fasting blood glucose level of 126 mg/dL or higher is diagnostic for diabetes.
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): A blood sugar level of 200 mg/dL or higher after 2 hours during an OGTT indicates diabetes.
  • Random Blood Sugar Test: A random blood sugar level of 200 mg/dL or higher, along with symptoms of diabetes, suggests diabetes.

It's important to confirm the diagnosis with a second test unless symptoms are present and blood sugar levels are significantly elevated.
