The HbA1c test, also known as the hemoglobin A1c test or A1c test, is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar (glucose) levels over the past 2 to 3 months. It is commonly used to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes, as well as to monitor how well your diabetes is being managed.
How does it work?
- The test measures the percentage of hemoglobin (a protein in red blood cells) that is coated with sugar (glycated).
