Type 2 diabetes is considered reversible in some cases, particularly in its early stages. This is often achieved through significant lifestyle changes, such as:

  • Weight Loss: Losing excess weight can improve insulin sensitivity.
  • Dietary Changes: Adopting a low-carb or Mediterranean diet can help manage blood sugar levels.
  • Exercise: Regular physical activity improves insulin sensitivity and helps control blood sugar.

Prediabetes, a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be classified as diabetes, is also reversible with similar lifestyle interventions.

Type 1 diabetes, however, is not reversible as it is an autoimmune condition where the body does not produce insulin.
