The A1C test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. It is expressed as a percentage, and you cannot calculate it at home without a blood test. However, you can estimate your A1C using your average blood glucose levels with the following formula:

A1C (%) = (Average Blood Glucose (mg/dL) + 46.7) / 28.7

For example, if your average blood glucose is 154 mg/dL, your estimated A1C would be:

(154 + 46.7) / 28.7 = 7.0%

Here’s a quick reference table:

Average Blood Glucose (mg/dL) Estimated A1C (%)

126 6.0
154 7.0
183 8.0
212 9.0
240 10.0

For an accurate A1C measurement, visit a healthcare provider for a blood test.
