A good glucose level depends on whether you are checking it fasting or after meals. Here are the general guidelines:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (before eating):

    • Normal: 70–99 mg/dL
    • Prediabetes: 100–125 mg/dL
    • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL or higher
  • After Meals (2 hours after eating):

    • Normal: Less than 140 mg/dL
    • Prediabetes: 140–199 mg/dL
    • Diabetes: 200 mg/dL or higher

For people with diabetes, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends:

  • Fasting: 80–130 mg/dL
  • After Meals: Less than 180 mg/dL

Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized targets based on your health condition.
