The Estimated Average Glucose (eAG) is a way to interpret your A1C results in terms of daily blood sugar levels. It provides an average blood glucose level over the past 2-3 months. Here’s a breakdown of normal eAG levels:

A1C (%) eAG (mg/dL) eAG (mmol/L)

5 97 5.4
6 126 7.0
7 154 8.6

  • Normal eAG: For someone without diabetes, a normal A1C is below 5.7%, which corresponds to an eAG of less than 117 mg/dL (6.5 mmol/L).
  • Prediabetes: An A1C of 5.7% to 6.4% corresponds to an eAG of 117–137 mg/dL (6.5–7.6 mmol/L).
  • Diabetes: An A1C of 6.5% or higher corresponds to an eAG of 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L) or higher.

Your doctor may set a personalized eAG target based on your health condition and treatment plan.
