For individuals with type 2 diabetes, blood sugar levels are typically categorized as follows:

  • Normal: Below 100 mg/dL (fasting) or below 140 mg/dL (2 hours after eating)
  • Prediabetes: 100–125 mg/dL (fasting) or 140–199 mg/dL (2 hours after eating)
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL or higher (fasting) or 200 mg/dL or higher (2 hours after eating)

Additionally, the A1C test is used to measure average blood sugar levels over the past 2–3 months:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or higher

Managing blood sugar levels is crucial for preventing complications. Consult your healthcare provider for personalized targets and treatment plans.
