A normal blood test typically does not include the specific tests required to diagnose diabetes. However, certain blood tests can help detect diabetes or prediabetes:

  • Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) Test: Measures blood sugar after an overnight fast. A result of 126 mg/dL or higher may indicate diabetes.
  • A1C Test: Provides an average blood sugar level over the past 2-3 months. An A1C level of 6.5% or higher suggests diabetes.
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Measures blood sugar before and after drinking a glucose-rich drink. A result of 200 mg/dL or higher after 2 hours may indicate diabetes.

If you suspect diabetes, consult your healthcare provider for appropriate testing and diagnosis.
