Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition that currently has no cure. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. As a result, the body cannot produce insulin, and lifelong insulin therapy is required to manage blood sugar levels.

While type 1 diabetes cannot go away, it can be managed effectively with:

  • Insulin Therapy: Regular insulin injections or the use of an insulin pump.
  • Blood Sugar Monitoring: Frequent checking of blood glucose levels.
  • Diet and Exercise: A balanced diet and regular physical activity help maintain stable blood sugar levels.

Research is ongoing to find a cure, such as beta cell transplantation or immunotherapy, but these are not yet widely available.
