The A1C test does not require fasting. Unlike other blood sugar tests (such as fasting plasma glucose), the A1C test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months, so fasting is unnecessary. However, your doctor may order additional tests (e.g., cholesterol) that require fasting, so always follow your healthcare provider's instructions.
