how long to fast for a1c test
Asked by: CuriousPatient
The A1C test does not require fasting. Unlike other blood sugar tests, such as the fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test, the A1C test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. You can eat and drink normally before taking the A1C test.
However, your doctor may order additional tests (e.g., cholesterol or fasting glucose) that require fasting. In such cases, follow your doctor's instructions.
