A good diabetic reading depends on the type of test and the time of day. Here are general guidelines:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (before meals): 80–130 mg/dL
  • Postprandial (1-2 hours after meals): Less than 180 mg/dL
  • A1C Test (average over 3 months): Below 7% for most adults with diabetes

Target Ranges for A1C:

A1C % Blood Sugar Level

<5.7% Normal (non-diabetic) 5.7–6.4% Prediabetes ≥6.5% Diabetes

These targets may vary based on individual health conditions, age, and other factors. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized goals.
