For individuals with diabetes, blood sugar level targets can vary based on age, overall health, and other factors. However, general guidelines are as follows:

  • Fasting Blood Sugar (before meals): 80–130 mg/dL
  • Postprandial Blood Sugar (1-2 hours after meals): Less than 180 mg/dL

These targets are recommended by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It's important to work with your healthcare provider to determine the best target range for your specific condition.

A1C Goals

  • For most adults with diabetes: An A1C level of less than 7% is recommended.
  • For older adults or those with other health conditions: The target may be slightly higher, around 7.5% to 8%.

Regular monitoring and consultation with your healthcare provider are essential to manage diabetes effectively.
