It depends on the type of diabetes blood test you are taking:

  • A1C Test: No fasting is required. This test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months.
  • Fasting Blood Glucose Test: Yes, fasting is required. You should not eat or drink anything (except water) for at least 8 hours before the test.
