A good fasting glucose level typically falls within the following ranges:

  • Normal: 70–99 mg/dL (3.9–5.5 mmol/L)
  • Prediabetes: 100–125 mg/dL (5.6–6.9 mmol/L)
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests

Fasting glucose levels are measured after not eating for at least 8 hours. Maintaining a fasting glucose level within the normal range is important for overall health and reducing the risk of diabetes and related complications. If your levels are consistently outside the normal range, consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
