A good fasting glucose level is typically within the following ranges:

  • Normal: 70–99 mg/dL (3.9–5.5 mmol/L)
  • Prediabetes: 100–125 mg/dL (5.6–6.9 mmol/L)
  • Diabetes: 126 mg/dL (7.0 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests

Fasting glucose levels are measured after not eating for at least 8 hours. Maintaining a fasting glucose level within the normal range is important for overall health and reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications. If your levels are consistently outside the normal range, consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
