The Glucose Management Indicator (GMI) is an estimate of your average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months, similar to the A1C test. The normal GMI percentage typically aligns with the A1C ranges:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

GMI is calculated using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data and provides an estimate of what your A1C might be. However, GMI and A1C may not always match exactly due to individual variations in red blood cell turnover and other factors.

For most people without diabetes, a GMI below 5.7% is considered normal. If you have diabetes, your target GMI may vary based on your treatment plan and health goals, but it is generally recommended to aim for a GMI below 7%.
