How many Americans have prediabetes?
Asked by: HealthCurious
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 96 million American adults—that's 1 in 3 adults—have prediabetes. However, more than 80% of them don’t know they have it. Prediabetes is a serious health condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. Without lifestyle changes, many people with prediabetes may develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years.
