To determine if you have prediabetes, you can look for the following signs and consider getting tested:

  • A1C Test: This blood test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. A result between 5.7% and 6.4% indicates prediabetes.
  • Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) Test: This test measures your blood sugar after an overnight fast. A result between 100 mg/dL and 125 mg/dL suggests prediabetes.
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): This test measures your blood sugar before and after drinking a sugary drink. A result between 140 mg/dL and 199 mg/dL indicates prediabetes.

Risk Factors:

  • Being overweight or obese
  • Having a family history of diabetes
  • Being physically inactive
  • Having high blood pressure or high cholesterol

If you have any of these risk factors or symptoms, consult your healthcare provider for appropriate testing and advice.
