Prediabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. The A1C test is commonly used to diagnose prediabetes. The ranges are as follows:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

If your A1C falls within the prediabetes range, it’s important to take steps to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. This may include lifestyle changes such as improving your diet, increasing physical activity, and losing weight if necessary. Regular monitoring and consultation with a healthcare provider are also recommended.
