To check for prediabetes, the following tests are commonly used:

  • A1C Test: Measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. Prediabetes is indicated by an A1C level between 5.7% and 6.4%.
  • Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) Test: Measures blood sugar after an overnight fast. Prediabetes is indicated by a level between 100 mg/dL and 125 mg/dL.
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): Measures blood sugar before and after drinking a sugary drink. Prediabetes is indicated by a level between 140 mg/dL and 199 mg/dL after 2 hours.

It's important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine which test is appropriate for you and to interpret the results.
