Prediabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. Here are some key indicators and tests to determine if you are prediabetic:

  • A1C Test: Measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. Prediabetes is indicated by an A1C level between 5.7% and 6.4%.
  • Fasting Blood Sugar Test: A fasting blood sugar level between 100 mg/dL and 125 mg/dL suggests prediabetes.
  • Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT): A blood sugar level between 140 mg/dL and 199 mg/dL after 2 hours indicates prediabetes.

Risk Factors:

  • Being overweight or obese.
  • Having a family history of diabetes.
  • Being physically inactive.
  • Having high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

If you have any of these risk factors or test results, consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
