Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) levels are used to measure your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. Here are the general guidelines for A1C levels:

  • Normal: Below 5.7%
  • Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
  • Diabetes: 6.5% or above

For most people with diabetes, the target A1C level is less than 7%. However, your doctor may set a different target based on your age, health conditions, and other factors.

A1C % Estimated Average Glucose (mg/dL)

6 126
7 154
8 183
9 212
10 240

Maintaining a good A1C level is crucial for managing diabetes and reducing the risk of complications.
